This week has been busy, which means I’m procraftinating more than previously.
Poor Decisions After Midnight
My fireworks socks got put on the backburner briefly, but I’m back to working on them again. I’m hoping to finish the foot this week.
The lace for my Victorian underwear got off to a rough start. I think I started over at least three times. I finally settled on a pattern I liked, but the way it was written, with pattern stitches on both right and wrong side rows, it was almost impossible for me to “read” my knitting, so I couldn’t tell what row I was picking up on when I set it down. I adjusted the pattern so the wrong side rows were plain, and I like the result much better, which is good because I need to make about 12 yards of this lace total.
I could probably shuffle this off into finished objects, since it will show up in my next FO post, but I haven yet gotten around to sewing on the buttons so we’ll leave it here for now.
I’ve known since I bought this seance themed fabric that I wanted to make a skirt out of it, but when I sat down for the actual sewing I didn’t have nearly as much as I thought I did. I do have a post coming on the dye process; I tinted this formerly white fabric with tea to make it a little less stark, and I’m super happy with the steampunk-esque result when combined with the brown fabric. I’ve got just a few more finishing touches, and then this one, too, will be in my next FO post.
My other big project this week was home improvement related. I bought this desk from Target back when I started working from home. It was the only one I could find in my price range that I liked, which had a drawer built in. I like red, but I was really hoping to find it in teal or turquoise. This weekend, I finally got around to repainting it.
This is still a work in progress (I need more paint, and sealer, and I want to order some decorative elements to add which I will share later). The desk itself was on clearance and no longer appears to be in stock, but it was part of the Wyndham collection if you want to earmark it for later, in case it comes back.
I like the color so much better. Please pardon the mess; I had to move everything back in to get to work this morning, even though I’ll have to disassemble it again next weekend to finish it.
My to do list is threatening to strangle me in my sleep, so I should probably get back to work now, and set the procraftinating aside.
