Price Change

I know. No one likes a price increase. Especially right now. But sometimes, it’s necessary.

For every book I sell, I have to pay fees. Usually this is at least 3.5%, plus a flat fee. Part of this goes to the host site where I’m selling (WordPress, Gumroad, Etsy, Amazon), and part of it goes to Paypal processing fees. Sometimes (like with Gumroad) there is an advertising or “discovery” fee. In addition, I have to pay my website fee, and all of that is after paying for editing services, formatting, and cover art. On average, I make $.66 on a $.99 sale, and less than a dollar on $1.99 sales.

So starting immediately I will be raising my ebook prices across all platforms. Individual novel length books will be $3.99, while novellas and shorter projects will be $1.99. Bind Off will be staying the same at $9.99. I will not be changing the prices of print books.

Since I started publishing, I’ve worked really hard to price my books as low as possible to make them more accessible. You all know I’ve struggled financially my entire adult life. It’s only been in the past year and a half that I started earning a living wage at all. So as much as I hate doing this, I’ve decided that it’s time. This is a necessary move to keep my business sustainable.

Thank you for understanding.

  1. We all need to do what is needed when the time arrives. I hope your sales increase and you can earn even more.
As for WordPress, so far I really like it. I’m preparing to move my blog and may restart my websites.
