If you’ve been here a couple of years, you’ve probably noticed something missing from my blog the past couple of months (besides me): Nanowrimo prep.
Usually I would have started my Nano Training Camp in September, working up to to the 1667 necessary in daily words to finish a novel in a month. However, the past year had been rough. I just barely got through last Nano, thanks to my then-undiagnosed thyroid disorder. This year has seen desperate monetary shortages, health problems, and a cross country move. While I’m doing better, I am still drastically behind on everything, including Nanowrimo prep.
To be honest, I’m still getting back in the swing of writing every day. Having to post weekly chapters on Patreon has helped, but I’m still not where I’d like to be. 2019 was supposed to be the year of edits, but that has gone by the wayside due to everything else that happened this year.
But I do have some deadlines coming up. I am dedicating myself to revisions and edits for November, but I don’t have the spoons to deal with the pressure or the distraction of Nanowrimo. I haven’t even logged in to the new site, and quite honestly I don’t plan to any time soon. Editing has always been more difficult for me than drafting, so I really need to buckle down and focus.
I’m sad to miss it and lose my streak, but I know this is what is best for me.
What are your plans for National Novel Writing Month? Are you participating? Working on a revision project of your own?
