goals 2018

January 2018 Wrap Up

The books:

  1. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
  2. Hungry Demigods by Andrea Tang
  3. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
  4. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
  5. The Price of Meat by K.J. Charles
  6. Kitty’s Big Trouble by Carrie Vaughn
  7. Stella by Starlight by Sharron M. Draper

I’m late to the party on the Hunger Games books, but those were some of my favorite reads in December/January. Also, if you haven’t read Hungry Demigods yet, you should. My review can be found here.

The goals:

  1. Send out 2 queries per week.
Done. The final queries for the Civil War murder mystery have been sent out, so it’s going to be a few weeks before I get back to this. In the mean time, I’ll work on compiling my agent list for for the next book I query.
  2. Publish 3 books.
In progress. You have heard that Moreau house will be out next month, right?
  3. Read the books currently on the night stand.
So far this year I’ve knocked 1 book of this list. I’m slowly working my way through it.
  4. Read at least 1 indie book per month
I actually read 2 indie shorts in January, and finished a novel, so I think I’m doing pretty good! (P.S. If you’re an indie author and want a review, check my review policy. I cross post to Amazon and Goodreads.)
  5. Read at least 30% diverse books.
I’m doing pretty well on this so far. Hungry Demigods ticks the boxes for POC main character/ownvoices and disability, The Price of Meat features a f/f couple, and Katniss has PTSD, so I think those count, too (yes, I have a relatively loose definition of “diverse.” I’m working on it). Stella by Starlight is also ownvoices/POC main character.

My books:

moreauhousecoversmallIf you haven’t been paying attention (or if you have), I have a book coming out next month. On February 27, the final book in the Evie Cappelli series will be available.

If you’ve been wanting to catch up on the series, now is the perfect time. THE SPIDER’S WEB is now free to download, and in February THE FERRYMEN will be on sale. I’ll also be hosting a giveaway. More details to come, so stay tuned!

As always, if you want the latest updates, sneak peeks, and coupon codes, sign up for my monthly mailing list.
